Marshall Polston, a 21-year old conservative Christian and sophomore at Rollins College in Florida, says that from the very first day of his Middle Eastern Humanities class he experienced some level of friction with his instructor Areeje Zufari, a Wahhabi Muslim and adjunct professor with ties to the Muslim brotherhood. But when she began using class time to promote her beliefs that the crucifixion of Jesus was a hoax and that even His disciples did not believe he was God, he says he had to speak out and challenged her in class.
What happened next must’ve taken Polston completely by surprise. According to an article at the Central Florida Post when this typically straight A student got back his next essay he had received a failing score of 52% with no explanation. When Polston contacted professor Zufari to find out what had gone wrong she reported him to the Dean of Safety for making her feel “unsafe” and accused him of lurking in the bushes outside of her classroom. Even though video surveillance from nearby cameras proved Polston was nowhere near the school at the time she still canceled her classes to recover from the stress.
However it wasn’t until Polston returned to class that things truly took a bizare turn for the worse. When class resumed professor Zufari took up the topic of Sharia Law. During the discussion a male Muslim student in the class enthusiastically commented that according to sharia law “a good punishment for gays, adulterers, and thieves was the removal of a certain body part.” Although many of the students found the statement troubling professor Zufari only responded by joking that the student was essentially now in “time-out”.
Apparently something Polston said in the ensuing discussion really upset her because shortly after class he was called to the office of the Dean of Safety where it was explained to him that he was making Rollins College an “unsafe” space by upsetting not only Professor Zufari but also another male Muslim student in his class who had complained. It was in fact the very same student who had made the violent comment.
According to the Central Florida Post Polston states that “they made it clear that they had not gotten a report about what the student said, and were more concerned about the danger I was causing to the campus. What danger? A difference of opinion in a college classroom is nothing out of the ordinary and certainly not dangerous. It was surreal and degrading. The bad grade was upsetting, but they were literally refusing to acknowledge the dangers posed by someone who advocated chopping off body parts on campus.”
At present Marshall Polston has been informed by letter that he is being placed on “summary suspension” and is currently considered a “threat of disruption.”The Wahabi ISIS Connection Proffesor Zufari’s Extremist Background
